Melynn Update

Melynn is officially eating solid foods (after a bad go of it with rice cereal!) and is trying out crawling with her hands and knees. I'm so excited to show these videos for the grandparents.

The story of the rice cereal is this: we started her on it and almost immediately she stopped taking naps and sleeping through the night. She got really gassy and fussy and it just seemed like her body couldn't digest the food. She was so bad that some nights I was practically sleeping in the rocking chair just to keep her from crying all night. After two weeks I said ENOUGH! We cut the cereal out for five days and she finally started acting normal again. Now we are feeding her oatmeal cereal and she is doing just fine.

The green beans didn't seem to phase her at first. She ate quite a bit and then started giving us this face:
Here she is crawling. She will start out on her hands and knees and then she moves back into the army crawl because she is faster that way. I think eventually she will give up the army crawl but only time can tell.

She is very busy and if I don't watch her like a hawk she gets into some tight spots. I have found her here twice now. If you can't tell she is in between the back of the couch and the wall. There isn't enough room for her to turn around and since she can't go backwards she gets stuck back there. It is really hard to get her out too because I can barely reach her from the top of the couch. What a mischievous girl!
Here she is in her purple snowsuit. It is 12 month size so it totally drowns her right now but it is so warm and cozy.

Vala's Pumpkin Patch 2009

Thanks to our good friends, we have a monitor to use! So, here are the pictures of our fun trip to Vala's that I promised.
We went with the Married 2 Medicine club, although we were late because Josh helped with a service project beforehand and I had to run to Walmart to get more diapers for Melynn. We got there about noon and stayed until about 3:30 PM. It started to rain as we were leaving and we heard that Vala's had to shut down completely after 4 PM because it was raining so badly. Sad! We tried doing the corn maze but this year it was in shambles, probably because of all the bad weather. We gave up and did other things this year.

We let Emmett take some pictures:
"huh?"
These are bunnies:Here are Josh and Emmett on the jumpy pumpkin:

We saw the pumpkin eating dragon (not my favorite but Emmett loved it!), the pig races, went down the big slide, shot apples from a slingshot, saw the pumpkin shooting cannon, went in a spooky mine, ate hot dogs, bought a caramel apple and rode the train. We spent more money this year than we have in the past and did some new things. I know Emmett had a great time. We were all exhausted by the end.

We took some of just us this time, and even got a family photo!

Computer Woes

Yesterday Josh discovered that our desktop's monitor has died. Oh yes, we think it is dead forever. So sad! I called my brother Kurt about it and he told us to check it on our laptop and it still didn't work. Boo hoo! So now we are down to just the laptop (thank goodness we have two computers!) until we can fix this. Oh, and this also means that I can't put the pictures of Vala's pumpkin patch up for a day or two. Boo hoo on that too!

Emmett Wrote My Name!

I am such a proud mama. How could this not melt your heart?

He ran out of room on the paper after MOM and ALICI so the last A had to be moved up a row. He started at the very bottom of the page for some reason. He is such a smart boy!

Sick of Being Sick

I have my second cold in about two months and I'm tired of it. It isn't the flu so I guess I have nothing to complain about, but I still don't like it. I have a sore throat and a cough that sounds terrible. The last cold wasn't this bad (Emmett, Josh and I all got it). This time it is me and Melynn. It is so sad to hear her coughing/hacking. No fevers and no muscle aches though, thank goodness. It started last Thursday so tomorrow will be day 7. I really hope it starts getting better soon.

Trip to Utah: Pictures

We took a lot of pictures on our crazy trip. Here they are:

OPENING BIRTHDAY PRESENTS
From Left to Right: Gaye Wood King, Wes Wood (holding Emmett Wood), Corinne Wood Layton, Alicia Krupp Wood (holding Melynn Wood), Joshua Wood
Ray King with Wes Wood and Emmett
Melynn taking her turn in the driver's seat after a rest stop/feeding.
Yes, we hit snow on our trip. This tree was amazing to look at. Trust me, I looked at it the whole time I was nursing Melynn. There was nothing else to look at in the gas station parking lot.
To me it looked like Heavenly Father hand-dipped each leaf in about a 1/4 inch of sugar. The edges just looked crunchy and yummy.
Emmett at his 3 year check up. He has a bat and a bug on his face from the Children's Museum (preschool pals was a bat theme).

Photography by Emmett

Emmett is a budding photographer. I don't think he is quite ready to go pro but he got some good shots this weekend. Here they are:

This one is by far my favorite so we'll start with it. He must be going for the detail on the dress, with a twist. Hee hee.
A close up of a neck.
Just from the shoulders to the knees, please.
An action shot:
His favorite subject: the human back. See examples below:
People he knows:
And maybe one he doesn't (but who is friendly enough to smile for a 3 year old taking pictures):
His cousin:
I'm pretty sure he didn't take this one...um, cuz he's in it?
More people he knows:Is that what I really look like? Really?

Oh, another back!
And good scenery.
Good job Emmett!
